2026 is a pivotal year for corporate climate strategies. After a decade of rapid uptake of science-based targets, companies are navigating a complex landscape shaped by evolving standards (e.g., SBTi, ISSB, GHG Protocol), implementation challenges, growing scrutiny from leadership and backlash from external stakeholders. Many organizations are reassessing their progress against established milestones while confronting structural barriers, geopolitical pressures, and questions around the credibility and durability of current commitments.

Against this backdrop, this roundtable will create a confidential, high-trust space for senior sustainable business leaders to reflect on critical strategic questions: What role should climate targets play in corporate strategy going forward? And what does credible climate action look like in 2026?

The discussion will move beyond technical debates to explore whether companies should refine existing target-setting approaches, how to rethink the broader architecture of climate strategy, and what alternative models are emerging and gaining traction.

Participants can expect an interactive and candid exchange under Chatham House Rule, facilitated by BSR leveraging our active discussions with members and key actors of the external landscape. Participating companies will have the opportunity to: compare and align with peers, stress-test their current approaches and explore emerging practices to inform their strategic choices in a rapidly evolving context.
