Our Mission

Develop a human rights due diligence approach to the right to health and identify opportunities to collaborate to address existing barriers to affordability, availability, discrimination, and unmet patient needs.

Create a space for healthcare companies’ human rights leads to share best practices, challenges, and experiences.

Our Strategy for Impact

HCHRF gathers healthcare companies to:

• Create and adopt common tools and approaches for human rights due diligence on the right to health
• Share knowledge, practical guidance, challenges, solutions, and lessons to prepare for existing and upcoming human rights due diligence regulatory requirements
•  Conduct internal and external stakeholder engagement on salient industry issues to inform human rights due diligence efforts, including on the right to health

How We Work

• HCHRF is a global network of healthcare companies, including pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare companies, that collectively steers the initiative’s priority activities. Participants include human rights leads at global healthcare companies and other relevant functions with oversight of human rights due diligence strategy and programs.
• HCHRF members are collaborating to develop a human rights due diligence framework on the right to health and understand good practices to address existing barriers. Working groups meet regularly to build a structured human rights due diligence approach on different issue areas informed by internal discussions and external input. 
• The group gathers regular input from participants. Opportunities for sharing both unique and common challenges help to ensure that all member companies benefit from participation.
• HCHRF participants meet at least six times a year with a minimum of one in-person gathering. Meetings include a mix of plenary discussions and practical workshops, where participants share challenges and best practices to advance progress on human rights due diligence on the right to health.
