2025 marked a pivotal moment for corporate climate ambition, following a decade of climate target setting. This year, companies reached the end of their first target cycle with mixed results, due to evolving standards, implementation challenges, and shifting external expectations and pressures.
BSR’s Setting Next Generation Climate Targets Roundtable will convene sustainability and climate experts in closed-door meetings to exchange insights, build capacity, and co-develop approaches for designing the next generation of corporate climate targets. The Roundtable will be facilitated by BSR, with contributions from external experts.

Format
This Roundtable will meet virtually eight times throughout 2026, with a potential in-person convening, depending on resources and member interest. Each session will be facilitated by BSR experts and feature external perspectives from standard setters, initiatives working on alternative target-setting methods, and corporate practitioners.
Roundtable participants will receive practical tools to advance their climate targets, with the option of developing external materials upon request.
All convenings will be held under Chatham House Rule and in full compliance with all antitrust laws.
