BSR Wins US$1.77 Million Grant from Dutch Government to Invest in Women’s Health

SAN FRANCISCO—March 26, 2013—The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands has awarded a US$1.77 million grant to BSR’s HERproject, a peer-to-peer education program on women’s sexual and reproductive health that has reached more than 200,000 female workers in more than 150 factories and farms in eight countries: Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, and Vietnam. BSR will use the grant to expand HERproject, particularly within Asia and Africa.

The release of the emissions data—reported by 13 of the world’s leading ocean container carriers, which represent more than 2,000 individual ships or more than 60 percent of ocean container capacity worldwide—provides the shipping industry with high-quality data for use in carbon footprint calculations.
