Global health partnerships play a key role in meeting many of the most critical health needs of low- and middle-income countries. This report summarizes the contribution of these partnerships to meeting global health needs and how to increase their scale and impact going forward.
The findings are based on interviews with leaders from the private sector and stakeholder groups, an assessment of more than 220 partnerships, a survey of pharmaceutical industry executives, and a multi-stakeholder roundtable convened in Geneva in December 2011. For this research, BSR also developed a uniform framework for companies to measure and report on impact. The framework assesses the impact of partnerships formed around four health challenge areas: availability of treatment, health system infrastructure, research and development, and awareness/prevention.
A short overview, from BSR's Sustainability Matters webinar on cross-sector global health partnerships, is also available.
