Senior Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Global Corporate Responsibility, the Senior ESG Manager will work across the worldwide enterprise to advance ESG performance, with a focus on environmental sustainability and supply chain. This role will serve as a key member of the Global Corporate Responsibility team and will partner with diverse internal stakeholders (e.g., Supply Chain, Facilities, Research and Development, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Legal, Investor Relations, Employee Communications, Corporate Communications) to develop and implement ESG programs, communicate our ESG progress to stakeholders, and meet ESG disclosure requirements in the countries where IDEXX operates.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience leading and developing cross-functional ESG initiatives at a publicly traded company, demonstrate an understanding of the ESG risks and opportunities relevant to IDEXX, and possess exceptional project management skills. Experience in biotechnology, medical devices, animal health and other related industries is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as project manager for priority ESG initiatives
  • Advance ESG strategy across the global enterprise, with a focus on providing guidance and support for environmental sustainability initiatives
  • Develop and manage the Supply Chain ESG program, including integrating ESG metrics into current supplier management processes, adding ESG criteria for new supplier selection process and engaging with priority stakeholders in IDEXX’s value chain
  • Communicate ESG performance to employees, customers, and investors, with a focus on environmental sustainability
  • Manage process for annual ESG reporting aligned with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and other reporting standards and frameworks
  • Monitor global regulatory environment related to ESG performance and disclosures
  • Manage responses to ESG raters, working across the enterprise to develop responses on material ESG issues to ensure raters have the most up to date and complete information to assess performance
  • Provide guidance and support to advance ESG goals and targets
  • Provide guidance and support to collect and manage ESG data
  • Collaborate with Legal, Investor Relations and other functions to meet annual corporate-level ESG disclosure requirements

LOCATION, DURATION AND CORE HOURS

Full time role; North America and Europe virtual working arrangement possible provided employee can participate in priority business activities during IDEXX corporate office core hours Monday to Friday 9:00-5:00 Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience advancing ESG strategy and initiatives across global organizations, with a specialty in environmental sustainability and supply chain
  • Bachelors’ Degree in sustainability or related ESG disciplines
  • Experience acting as project manager for cross-functional ESG initiatives
  • Proven ability to influence processes and decision-making across a global organization
  • Experience developing and managing Supply Chain ESG programs
  • Excellent English writing skills; proficiency in other languages an asset
  • Proven ability to create high-impact ESG communications assets for presentations, publications, and social media
  • Extensive knowledge of global regulatory environment related to ESG performance and disclosures
  • Experience managing engagement with ESG raters
  • Experience collaborating with diverse functions across a global enterprise such as Operations, Research and Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Legal, Investor Relations, Employee Communications, and Corporate Communications
  • Experience with ESG reporting standards and frameworks such as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs); certification with these standards and frameworks preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of ESG reporting trends and investor expectations for disclosures
  • Experience collecting data and writing narratives for ESG disclosures
  • Commitment to work respectfully and collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive cross-cultural environment
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of deliverables and upholds excellent work ethic
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with various functions across the organization
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; skills developing presentations for executive audiences an asset
