This May will hold a continuation of BSR’s 25th anniversary dinner and discussion series, various events for our collaborative initiatives, and more. We will also launch the BSR Conference 2017 on May 17, so stay tuned.
Here are the global sustainability events we’re hosting, attending, and speaking at this month.
What We’ll Host
- May 1: Senior Vice President Eric Olson and Managers Nate Springer and Beth Richmond will launch the Sustainable Fuel Buyers’ Principles at the Future of Fuels Spring Forum at the 2017 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Long Beach, California.
- May 8: Asia-Pacific Vice President Jeremy Prepscius and Associate Chris Fletcher will launch BSR’s upcoming report on labor disputes in Myanmar in Yangon, Myanmar.
- May 10: BSR will host a members-only webinar to discuss the latest developments in U.S federal climate and energy policy and its impact on business.
- May 11: In celebration of our 25th anniversary, Managing Director John Hodges and Associate Director David Korngold will host a dinner and discussion in Washington, D.C., on how business leads in a changing world as part of a global series for senior representatives of our member companies and select partners.
- May 15: Olson, Associate Director Jorgette Mariñez, and Manager Byron Austin will host our 25th anniversary dinner and discussion in Chicago.
- May 17: Manager Lauren Shields will speak at the event “Introducing the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap Analysis Tool,” co-hosted by BSR and the Global Compact Network UK, in London.
- May 18: We will host a BSR Connect breakfast in San Francisco on accelerating women’s empowerment and the WEPs Gender Gap Analysis Tool.
- May 19: Managing Director Tara Norton will host a BSR Connect networking discussion on supply chain management in New York. Gap Inc.’s Director of Global Sustainability Dan Fibiger will also speak.
- May 23: BSR’s China teams and Walmart will host a half-day event in Shenzhen, China, to celebrate outcomes of the Women in Factories program, recognize the efforts of participating factories, and more. Communications Coordinator Katie Morris will also attend.
Where We’ll Be
- May 2-3: Associate Director Marshall Chase and Manager Salah Husseini will attend the AIAG Corporate Responsibility Summit in Southeast Michigan, where Husseini will speak on practical human rights due diligence in supply chains.
- May 8-9: Norton will speak at SustaIn, the Ecovadis annual event dedicated to supply chain sustainability, in Paris.
- May 8-10: President and CEO Aron Cramer will participate in “Solve at MIT” in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- May 8-10: Information and Communications Technology Associate Director Michael Rohwer will attend the 2017 Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council Summit in Denver, Colorado.
- May 8-18: Associate Director David Wei and Manager Samantha Harris will attend the UN climate negotiations in Bonn, Germany.
- May 11: Cramer will attend the advisory board meeting for the ILO-IFC Better Work program in Geneva.
- May 11: Senior Vice President Peder Michael Pruzan-Jorgensen will moderate the panel session “Investing in Sustainability” at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit. Managing Director Elisa Niemtzow will also attend.
- May 16: Cramer will attend the We Mean Business board meeting in London.
- May 19: Rohwer will speak at the Silicon Valley Conflict Minerals and Human Trafficking Forum in Santa Clara, California.
- May 22: Senior Vice President Laura Gitman will speak on a panel entitled “Business and Human Rights in the Age of Trump” at Columbia Law School in New York.
- May 22-25: Norton will attend the Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
- May 22-25: Manager Meghan Ryan will speak on the panel “Supply Chain Leadership: The Cutting Edge of Ambitious Supplier Engagement for Sustainability” at Sustainable Brands 2017 in Detroit, Michigan. Associate Director Jorgette Mariñez will also attend.
- May 23-25: Associate Director Chhavi Ghuliani will present the session “HERproject at 10: Empowering Women in Global Supply Chains” at the SEEP Global Learning Forum on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Bangkok.
