The goal of the Raw Materials Sustainable Sourcing department is to ensure ingredients used in formulas are traceable, responsibly sourced and that none of them are linked to deforestation. Thus, whilst ensuring the high quality of the materials, our mission is to ensure the respect of human rights along our supply chains, contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change. Moreover, the in-depth work undertaken with our suppliers on social and environmental factors is an undeniable asset in our business continuity.

The Group is looking for a motivated Project Manager to join the Raw Materials Sustainable Sourcing team to reach its sustainable sourcing target on mineral ingredients in close relationship with our suppliers.

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILTIES:

  • The Project Manager for Mineral ingredients Sustainable Sourcing will undertake the main following missions & tasks:
  • Ensure “100% of mineral commodities are traceable and responsibly sourced”
  • Coordinate and ensure the deployment of our sustainable sourcing policies
  • Support suppliers worldwide in their sustainability transformation by providing technical support
  • Collaborate with Raw Materials Sourcing and internal stakeholders, and ensure the transfer of expertise on sustainable sourcing
  • Engage and coordinate with external stakeholders to define the adapted levers and action plan across the supply chains to source sustainably ingredients (suppliers, NGOs, sustainable development consultancy agencies…)
  • Maintain the raw materials database & contribute to extra financial reporting
  • Keep the raw materials portfolio database up to date with latest information (e.g. new supply chain, origin update, supplier’s performance etc.) Provide content and KPIs for extra-financial reportings
  • Continuous strategic watch and monitoring on sustainable sourcing to ensure robustness of L’Oréal sustainable sourcing policy and methodologies
  • Anticipate the environmental and human rights risks and the related impacts
  • Identify and assess new measurement tools
  • Follow-up impact of environmental and social regulations
  • Identy and roll out best practices from market (competitors, suppliers…)
  • Design and monitor projects to secure sustainability of strategic raw material supply chains through L’Oréal direct involvement initiatives
  • Elaborate action plan proposals with Raw Materials Sourcing and with relevant suppliers, adequately addressing the sustainability risks to be secured
  • Select third party providers to perform Baseline Studies, Human Rights Impact Assessment and Audits
  • Identify suppliers and sources eligible to the development of Sustainable Sourcing projects
  • Design projects in coordination with Raw Materials Sourcing, suppliers and the selected third parties
  • Conduct field visits to confirm adequation of projects with local sustainability issues & finetune action plans
  • Finalize project contracts, coordinating with all project stakeholders
  • Ensure monitoring & reporting of the project (development & run phase)
  • Create expert communication materials to be used by communication teams
  • Active participation in the sectorial initiative, RMI (Responsible Mica Initiative)

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should

  • Have a Master’s degree level education sustainable development; environmental or natural resource management; human rights; sustainability, ideally with a focus on minerals and metals supply chains)
  • Have proven experience (min 5 years) in sustainable development and minerals and metals value chains
  • Have knowledge and experience working with voluntary sustainability and due diligence standards, frameworks, and certification schemes relevant for minerals and metals
  • Be business-oriented (good understanding of business and brands’ issues)
  • Analytical skills and skills for synthesis
  • Be fluent in French and English
  • Have advanced IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
