Business efforts are increasingly focused on understanding and addressing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As these efforts mature, greater attention is being focused on GHG emissions throughout company value chains and product life cycles, from raw material extraction to disposal, as a complement to company-specific carbon footprinting.
Reasons for this focus include an interest among companies in improving communications with consumers and others, a desire to reduce GHG-related risks throughout the value chain, and a potential need to address future product labeling requirements.
