The Writing on the Wall
BSR is increasingly working with agricultural suppliers in China. On a recent visit to one small Chinese vegetable farm, I encountered this wall with a slogan capturing the simple hope of the enterprise and many others like it: “Ensuring safe and high-quality produce.”
While scandals have tainted the reputation of supply chains in China, there are also many Chinese suppliers genuinely trying their best to do a good job. It’s been exciting to see more brands engage their supply chains here, not simply to find bad actors, but—equally importantly—to partner with and develop potential stars.
