Scaling a Just Transition: The Role of Private Capital

Join us during London Climate Action Week for an event co-hosted by BSR's People-Centered Climate Action in Private Markets (PCAP), Standard Life, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

As climate change accelerates and energy insecurity grows, the implications for economies, industries, and communities become increasingly profound. The transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy is both an urgent necessity and a significant opportunity for value creation. However, if not managed carefully, this transition can introduce complex risks for people and nature across company value chains and investment portfolios.

Investors and companies are under rising pressure to ensure that climate action aligns with respect for human rights and environmental integrity. Private capital investors, in particular, play a critical role in scaling innovative business models that operate within planetary boundaries and deliver positive outcomes for people.

Objectives

Together, we’ll explore how an integrated and due diligence-based approach to a just transition provides a practical pathway to identify and address impacts on workers, communities, and consumers across private capital value chains—while unlocking more resilient and sustainable value. Participants will leave the session with:

  • An understanding of the implications of the climate transition for human rights across value chains and why an integrated and due diligence-based approach can support a just transition and create value
  • Clarity on the role of investors, particularly private capital, in shaping responsible business models and transition strategies to manage risks and create long-term value
  • Practical OECD just transition guidance and insights on this approach in private capital
  • Strengthened cross-sector dialogue to accelerate collaboration and action

Please note: This will be held in the afternoon on 22 June, 2026. Timing will be confirmed in the coming weeks. This event is designed for a multi-stakeholder audience, including financial institutions, business, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Capacity is limited and we cannot guarantee admittance.
