Winrock’s Corporate Affairs and Global Strategy Team works across the organization and with external stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness of Winrock’s programs while also growing Winrock’s project portfolio in accordance with our strategic plan and values. The team interacts with corporations, financial institutions, foundations, media and our US government and multilateral funders.

Position Purpose: The Senior Associate, Private Sector Engagement will support Corporate Affairs’ efforts to integrate the private sector into Winrock’s proposals and projects globally. They will also help develop new direct funding opportunities with the private sector, aligned with Winrock’s global programs and priorities.

Position Overview: Winrock’s work with the private sector has grown in recent years and we are building our capabilities and expertise to manage our existing partnerships while continuing to expand our collaborations with the private sector. The Private Sector Engagement Senior Associate will work collaboratively across Winrock’s programs to help ensure that the voice of the private sector is appropriately integrated into how we design our proposals and projects, while also engaging with the private sector to gain their buy-in and insights. In addition, we will continue to seek projects directly funded by the private sector on projects that align with our shared values.

The Senior Associate, Private Sector Engagement will help ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of our engagement across the organization and with external stakeholders and partners. This includes planning for and facilitating appropriate communication and meetings. This position will report directly to Winrock’s Senior Director of Private Sector Engagement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate and support outreach to corporations and financial institutions to integrate their perspective in and contributions to Winrock’s proposals and projects
  • Aid in the development of marketing content to support Winrock’s efforts to build awareness of our expertise with corporations and financial institutions
  • Support engagement with the program teams to develop proposals and strategies that maximize the effectiveness of private sector engagement
  • Support the design of tools and resources that will enable Winrock and our partners to effectively address critical social and environmental challenges
  • Conduct due diligence on potential partner companies
  • Support Winrock’s presence at major meetings and events
  • Write content for social media and/or blogs to help promote Winrock’s leadership in private sector engagement
  • Facilitate effective engagement with program teams to ensure that Corporate Affairs is effectively meeting their needs
  • Support Corporate Affairs efforts to accomplish and track our contributions to Winrock’s strategic objectives

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a business, social, or physical science degree relevant to Winrock’s programming required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience relevant to Winrock’s programming including energy and environment, human rights, education and empowerment or agriculture and water.
  • Experience coordinating, liaising, and engaging with the private sector on social and/or environmental sustainability topics.
  • Demonstrated experience writing content for distribution to external stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research, synthesizing, and presenting findings and recommendations to team members for decision making.
  • Prefer experience with financial instruments, sustainable finance, impact finance, etc.

Computer/Technical Skills:

  • Effective across the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prefer experience using Salesforce to manage relationships with partners.

Communication Skills:

  • Conversant in a broad range of private sector sustainability topics Experience supporting the facilitation of meetings internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Effective and confident communication.
  • Adept at proactive communication.
  • Language: Fluent in English required.

Required Travel: Minimal required travel (5-10%).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, impeccable integrity and trustworthiness, sense of humor, and diplomatic approach to problem solving.
  • English fluency required

Must be authorized to work within the United States.
