To anticipate and plan for geo-political, social and environmental risks related to apparel sourcing in Greater Africa. To conduct factory social compliance audits and related assessments, as directed by the Responsible Sourcing Vice President for Greater Africa. To support implementation of community service and factory training programs, and to ensure factories demonstrate compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, TCP standards and code of conduct.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supports regional Global Sourcing Director to manage risks of Global Sourcing strategy in Africa.
  • Develops strategy to manage TCP’s commitment to responsible sourcing in African countries.
  • Provides leadership across global Responsible Sourcing team.
  • Supports ongoing improvement of Responsible Sourcing team policies, procedures and operations.
  • Supports ongoing enhancement of Responsible Sourcing systems, specifically the Fair Factories Clearinghouse.
  • Executes on-the-ground factory monitoring program, including auditing, training, remediation follow-up. (Includes visiting factories producing for TCP on a regular and ongoing basis).
  • Identifies and analyzes Responsible Sourcing trends and best practices in African countries.
  • Escalates potential crisis situations to management, as appropriate.
  • Critically reviews and analyzes audit reports received from third-party audit firms.
  • Develops and delivers training opportunities that increase internal and external awareness and promotion of responsible sourcing.
  • Identifies regional and country based benchmarks.
  • Educates vendors and factories in all aspects of responsible sourcing.
  • Identifies local resources to aid factories in strengthening responsible sourcing management systems.
  • Effectively monitors applicable laws regarding labor and working conditions in African countries and analyze impacts of current and potential legislation on TCP Sourcing strategy.
  • Represents TCP in industry events and meetings, as directed.
  • Performs any additional tasks, as directed by Management.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • 7 years or above relevant experience in Social Compliance auditing for apparel manufacturing facilities Knowledge of international labor standards and human rights issues preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • College Degree (Advanced Degree Preferred)
  • Effective problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Social compliance auditing skills
  • Familiarity with the apparel manufacturing process
  • Strong sense of industry fashion trends (current and emerging)
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet-research / reporting / analysis tools
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of time
