Job Description

Associate Director of Global Safety, Compliance and Supplier Responsibility (SCR) leads the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs company wide. The role owns all global policies and procedures in support of an accident-free workplace as well as initiatives required to promote strong ethics, health, labor management, social responsibility, and environmental impact. This role is responsible for managing a balanced approach and decision making involving multiple internal and external stakeholders to chart a course for the company to conduct business in a safe, ethical and legally compliant manner while delivering against TaylorMade’s financial goals.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, inspires, develops and coaches the TaylorMade Compliance & Safety team, including overseas employees to effectively execute the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs.
  • Leads the TaylorMade Executive Responsibility Committee (ERC), comprised of executive level cross-functional leaders
  • Creates and helps enforce Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs supporting the goal of an accident-free workplace and continuous improvement in health & safety, labor management and sustainability across all TaylorMade and supplier sites globally.
  • Drafts and maintains relevant policies, procedures and tools in support of the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs including audit standards, grading matrices, codes of conduct, manuals and any other relevant tools needed to comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Creates and maintains behavior modification and other risk mitigation programs in support of safety goals and lowering overall risk across the organization.
  • Develops and maintains the TaylorMade restricted substances list and supports the Product Creation and Engineering teams on replacement solutions for hazardous chemicals.
  • Liaises with suppliers, local experts, industry associations, third-party auditors and legal teams to understand changes to laws and regulations, including US OHSA standards, as well as key trends in sustainability and integrates relevant changes into the Safety and Supplier Responsibility programs.
  • Engages with relevant industry consortia and in continuous education to ensure the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs remain current and competitive.
  • Conducts annual Safety Perception Survey at all TaylorMade and key supplier locations and uses the results of that survey to define global programs and tools to improve safety.
  • Maintains industry associations and certifications including Fair Labor Association, Apparel and Footwear Association, Business for Social Responsibility.
  • Develops and implements compelling training tools in support of the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Programs.
  • Collaborates with TaylorMade site-level safety managers, legal, HR and operations teams as well as supplier compliance leads to create training content that is relevant and engaging for all internal and external stakeholders including legal, HR, operations, product creation, engineering, and supplier teams.
  • Ensures via formal third-party audits that that all TaylorMade sites, supplier facilities and third-party partners maintain compliance with Safety and Supplier Responsibility standards, as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with suppliers, local experts, and third-party auditors to understand current compliance levels in health, safety, labor, environment, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Develops and manages robust reporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on safety and compliance performance at all locations against the TaylorMade Safety and Supplier Responsibility Standards.
  • Supports supplier score card process for club and ball suppliers and makes recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Defines and manages the new Supplier Approval and Onboarding Process and trains teams across eComm, product creation, engineering, R&D, sourcing and operations on the new supplier approval process.
  • Directs the work that third party vendors conduct in support of the TM responsibility standards including auditors, reviewers, translators, compliance, ESG and chemical consultants
  • Collaborates with all internal teams such as: Legal to address ESG related inquiries from external entities, Finance on understanding industry ESG credit ratings, Marketing on ESG page on TM website

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Understanding of local health, safety, labor, and environment standards wherever TaylorMade and its suppliers conduct business
  • Ability to operate at the Executive level of the company by engaging in complex, often confidential, business situations
  • Ability to operate independently
  • Ability to create action plans which balance conflicting objectives across multiple internal and external stakeholders including functional teams (legal, HR, production creation, engineering, operations), employees, suppliers, customers and non-governmental organizations
  • Knowledge of incident investigation techniques (i.e.5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking, planning and decision making skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; demonstrated data analysis capability
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Language skills in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish very beneficial
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to all levels of workforce
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop others
  • Ability to play leadership role in a cross functional team environment (communicate clearly and hold others accountable for deliverables)
  • Ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities to accomplish multiple tasks
  • Skilled at presenting information to diverse audiences, including all levels of management, and building rapport
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions with regular visits to lab, warehouse, and production environments
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Occasional international travel required
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant business area
  • Minimum 8-10 years in sourcing, supply chain or compliance / risk management
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers
  • Experience managing third party auditor relationships
  • Industrial hygiene
  • OSHA/ISO 14001 or SA8000 certification preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification preferred

TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
