Aron is recognized globally as a preeminent authority on just and sustainable business. In addition to leading BSR, which has grown substantially throughout his tenure as President and CEO, Aron advises senior executives at BSR’s 300+ member companies and other global businesses and partners on the full spectrum of environmental, social, and governance issues.

Aron joined BSR in 1995 as the founding director of its Business and Human Rights program. He later opened BSR's Paris office in 2002, where he worked until becoming President and CEO in 2004. Aron has served on advisory boards to CEOs at AXA, Barrick Gold, Marks & Spencer, Nike, Recruit Holdings, SAP, Shell, and he serves as a director of the We Mean Business Coalition and RISE.

Aron speaks frequently at leading business and public fora and is widely quoted in top-tier media, such as the Financial Times, Le Figaro (France), The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Axios, and Politico. He is co-author of the book Sustainable Excellence: The Future of Business in a Fast-Changing World, which spotlights innovative sustainability strategies that enable business success.

Prior to joining BSR, Aron practiced law in San Francisco and worked as a journalist at ABC News in New York. He holds a BA from Tufts University and a JD from the University of California, Berkeley.

Peter Herweck leads Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, guiding its strategy in sustainability, industrial software, and digital transformation.

He first joined Schneider’s Executive Committee in 2016, heading its Industrial Automation business. In 2018, he oversaw the merger of Schneider’s Industrial Software business with AVEVA, before becoming CEO of AVEVA in 2021. In May 2023, he assumed leadership of Schneider Electric as CEO.

Earlier in his career, Peter began as a Software Development Engineer with Mitsubishi in Japan and later moved to Siemens, where he held senior roles including Chief Strategy Officer and CEO of its Process Industries & Drives division. He has also held leadership roles across the US, China, Japan, and Europe. His expertise spans automation, digitalization, and leading complex global transformations.

Peter holds an MBA from Wake Forest University School of Business, as well as electrical and engineering degrees from Metz University in France and Saarland University in Germany. Additionally, he has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. 

Susan Mac Cormac is a partner of global law firm Morrison & Foerster, serving as co-chair of the energy and clean technology groups.

Mac Cormac’s work focuses on advising innovative, forward-thinking sustainable and renewable energy companies and investors on corporate structure, equity and debt financings, mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases and sales, reorganizations, and joint ventures. She advises corporations on the intersection of fiduciary duties and environmental sustainability as well as disclosure around ESG. She has particular expertise on ensuring energy, sustainability, and other investments have positive impact through use of new corporate forms, hybrids, alternative debt and equity instruments, and disclosure.

In 2015, the Financial Times named Mac Cormac the “Most Innovative North American Lawyer” for her work championing impact investing and social enterprise legal innovation. She was named one of California Lawyer’s Attorneys of the Year in 2016 and in 2012, received the 2016 National Public Service Award from the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section for her innovative pro bono services to nonprofits, and has been recognized on several leadership lists, including the Daily Journal’s Top Female Lawyers for 2016, 2012, and 2011 and Top 100 Lawyers for 2012. She was a founding board member of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, is a member of the Ceres President’s Council and the Board of Earth Genome Project, and is an advising board member of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy’s Strategic Investor Initiative. She is also professor of social enterprise law at UC Berkeley School of Law.

Mac Cormac holds a B.A. from Williams College and received her J.D. and LL.M. degrees from Duke University School of Law. 

Alexandra Reeve Givens is the CEO of the Center for Democracy & Technology, the leading nonpartisan, nonprofit organization fighting to protect civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age. She is a prominent advocate for protecting people’s online privacy and access to information, and ensuring emerging technologies advance human rights and democracy.

Alex regularly appears in news outlets such as CNN, CBS News, NPR, The Washington Post and Wired, and has testified in Congress multiple times. Her writing has been featured in outlets ranging from Democracy Journal and Barron’s to Slate and Ms Magazine.

At CDT, Alex leads an international team of lawyers, policy experts, and technologists. CDT advocates to policymakers and the courts, works to improve tech companies’ policies and product designs, and helps the public have a voice in how technology shapes our lives and futures.

Alex previously served in the United States Senate, as the chief counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee covering innovation and consumer protection. Prior to joining CDT, she was the founding Executive Director of Georgetown University’s Institute for Technology Law & Policy, where she set the Institute’s research agenda, and directed its public convenings, policy work, and strategic development. Alex began her career as a litigator at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City, and taught for nine years as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law and Georgetown Law.

Alex serves on the boards of the Urban Institute, BSR, and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is named for her late father, Christopher Reeve. She also serves on advisory boards for the Aspen Institute, World Economic Forum, Partnership on AI, KKR, and numerous companies, and is a judge for the Webby Awards.

She holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.

Ms. Pek Siok Lan is Head of Investment Stewardship at Temasek International, responsible for the development and implementation of corporate governance
and stewardship frameworks.

Prior to this, Ms. Pek was General Counsel of Temasek for a decade, leading its global legal, regulatory and compliance function. She was also a Global Executive Council member, serving on Temasek’s investment, strategy, and management committees.

Before joining Temasek, Ms. Pek was General Counsel for more than 20 years at the Singapore Technologies Group and ST Telemedia Group, with responsibilities spanning governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, litigation, and compliance.

She serves on the board of Mandai Park Holdings, a company committed to wildlife conservation and on the investment committee of Temasek Trust Asset Management, a firm dedicated to impact investing.

Adam Werbach is a lifelong sustainability advocate working at the intersection of technology, business, and politics.

Elected at age 23 as the national president of the Sierra Club, Werbach was instrumental in the fights to create Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Parks and the now threatened Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. He left the Sierra Club to start the technology and strategy company Act Now Productions, which was best known for helping Walmart launch its sustainability efforts. Werbach sold Act Now to the Publicis Groupe in 2008 and became the global CEO for Saatchi & Saatchi S, where he helped launch products from the Toyota Prius to wind turbines.

He later co-founded the venture-backed online re-use platform Trove (formerly Yerdle), which powers the re-use programs for companies including Patagonia, REI, and Eileen Fisher. His most recent book, “Strategy for Sustainability,” was published by Harvard Business Press and is taught in leading business schools. Werbach recently co-founded Win The Future (WTF) with Silicon Valley leaders Mark Pincus and Reid Hoffman to bring the voice of young people into the political system.
