#Supply Chain

The Global Impact Sourcing Coalition (GISC) will hold a conversation with procurement leaders on the business benefits and social impacts of Impact Sourcing.

Leading companies are no longer just approaching sustainable procurement to mitigate risk. They are maximizing opportunities and generating business benefits and lasting social impacts. More than 50 leading companies and organizations have come together to promote and advance wide-scale adoption of Impact Sourcing—an innovative procurement practice that seeks to create economic inclusion and social impacts, such as integrating poor and vulnerable populations into the workforce across global supply chains. Participating companies include Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Bloomberg, and Nielsen.

This practice is not only beneficial for workers and their communities. Through Impact Sourcing, companies gain access to suppliers that have responsible hiring practices and compete on quality, service, and price. Impact Sourcing also creates a more stable supplier workforce and increases social impact and demonstration of corporate citizenship.

This event will include an introduction to Impact Sourcing and the GISC, an interactive panel discussion with GISC member companies, an opportunity to hear from impact workers directly, and time for networking. Join us to learn how procurement teams are tackling unemployment and poverty in the Bay Area—and from all countries from which they source—through Impact Sourcing.

A panel discussion from 3-5 p.m. will be followed by networking and cocktails from 5-6:30 p.m.

Speakers

  • Aparna Gole, Director of Marketing and Business Development, PeopleShores
  • Tim Hopper, Responsible Sourcing Manager, Microsoft
  • Erin Lambert, Global Head of Sourcing, Bloomberg
  • Tony MacDonald, CFO, Samasource
