‘Road Through Paris’ Briefing: Climate Finance and Carbon Pricing

The COP21 climate talks this December in Paris are shaping up to achieve significant progress on international and national climate and energy policy. In the run-up to Paris, companies can seize important opportunities to shape the outcome of COP21 by demonstrating strong commitments, providing targeted advice to policymakers, and preparing to act on the likely results.

In this briefing, the second in our series, BSR will discuss progress on climate finance and carbon pricing, which send important market signals to businesses to decarbonize investment in the real economy. Climate finance is one of the four pillars of the Paris outcome, alongside a new global agreement, national commitments, and climate action by businesses and sub-national governments.

We will provide an update on the Financing for Development conference, which will have just concluded in Addis Ababa, and we will discuss how governments and companies are putting a price on carbon, in a shift toward low-carbon investment.
