COVID-19, Women Workers, and the Healthy Supply Chain

As COVID-19 has closed stores, shut down business operations and decimated factory production, the harm to women workers is both immediate and long-term, particularly in the apparel and footwear sectors where women make up the majority of the workforce. The establishment of a new normal will depend on actions taken now to build resilient supply chains and address the impact on women—and men workers—and their access to health care and critical social services.

The United Nations Foundation’s Universal Access Project, BSR's HERproject, and the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) are hosting the webinar "COVID-19, Women Workers, and the Healthy Supply Chain" on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.  

This webinar presents insights from leading speakers on the global situation for supply chains during this pandemic. The speakers will describe the impact of the current crisis on supply chains and their workers, prospects for supply chains as we come out of this crisis, and efforts and initiatives launched at the local level to strengthen the capacity of workplaces to respond to current and future threats and ensure the health needs of workers are met. There will also be guidance on how to reopen factories in a way that protects both workers and management.
