Job Summary/Purpose

Support the development and implementation of the Sandoz Human Rights Strategy in line with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Work with functions to integrate human rights due diligence into the business (e.g. M&A, IA, procurement, legal, communications, HSE, P&O), conduct human rights impacts assessments, and develop preventives and remedial measures. Support for external reporting in collaboration with all relevant internal and external teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development and implementation of the global human rights strategy.
  • Manage and lead internal project to implement human rights due diligence obligations to prevent human rights violations in supply chains and in Sandoz Operations, as well as conduct human rights impact assessments to evaluate and assess the potential adverse impact of Sandoz activities.
  • Collaborate and partner closely with company management (e.g. ESG team, SpeakUp team, D&I, P&O, Communication, HSE, M&A) and other functions to assess the management process and integrate human rights aspects into those business processes.
  • Support the local ERC Teams to implement the Global Human Right Policy, and provide advice on local SOPs and processes development, as applicable.
  • Evaluation of risk management systems and use of risk analyses to assess human rights and environmental risks in the value chain.
  • Development of solutions and concepts to identify and remedy violations.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, methodologies and training courses and monitor activities to support awareness, detection, and prevention goals.
  • Provide support with the preparation, drafting and review of external reports.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Advanced degree in Human Rights, Law, Political Science, Business or Similar. Business and Human Rights related course is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience working within a large business or consultancy in the areas of business and human rights, sustainability, or responsible sourcing
  • Experience in developing and implementing corporate human rights strategy and engaging at senior levels
  • Excellent knowledge of the business and human rights agenda, key international frameworks such as the UNGPs, and recent legislative developments at EU and national level
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable supplier management, supplier assessment and existing audit systems (SA8000, SEDEX, amfori BSCI, etc)
  • Knowledge and experience working with international labor standards and legal instruments developed by the ILO.
  • Project management experience with focus on delivering results
  • Effective communication/presentation skills with all management levels
  • Strong collaborator, networking and relationship management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (qualitative and quantitative aspects)
  • Confident handling of common Microsoft Office applications (especially MS Excel and Power Point)
  • Fluent English, German desirable, other languages helpful
