Job Description

Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, the Director, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be a key member of the HR Leadership Team charged with bringing IDEXX’s unique culture to life, fostering an environment where everyone belongs, and celebrating a diverse workforce around the globe. You will be a key strategic advisor to the Senior Leadership Team on matters relating to diversity & inclusion and the way we work, building inclusive teams, and continuing to invest in a diverse talent pipeline.

The candidate for this position will develop a strong grasp of IDEXX businesses globally as well as a deep understanding of the value of the Diversity & Inclusion strategy as a business imperative. They will have a strategic mindset and ability to analyze data so that sound talent strategies can be developed and integrated into the business plans. The person in this position will use strong influencing skills across all the different disciplines in IDEXX to execute the D&I vision. This candidate will work closely with many internal teams and global business leaders to provide sustainable success.

What you can expect in this role.

  • Partner with global COE leaders (within HR and across the business) to integrate D&I into core talent programs, processes and systems, infusing the inclusion mindset and practices in all that we do.
  • Drive the strategic workforce diversity goals by leveraging data and insights to understand root cause issues, develop data-driven solutions and deploy targeted interventions to accelerate progress in key markets.
  • Advise and guide the Executive Leadership Team on strategies to further integrate D&I into the culture and operations of their businesses, in order to cultivate an inclusive culture that leverages the talents of diverse teams to drive business results.
  • Drive the development and implementation of enterprise-wide programs, processes, tools and initiatives to achieve (and exceed) the objectives of the D&I initiatives.
  • Lead enterprise efforts to enable the D&I vision and strategy, integrating the work within the Commercial and Cultural transformations of the business.
  • Articulate the annual and long-term D&I strategy for the enterprise; monitor progress and ensure results are achieved.
  • Establish people compliance standards, anticipate compliance trends, and work to improve and tighten internal compliance controls.
  • Guide people compliance-related reporting AAP, EEO, I-9, Immigration in consultation with legal counsel.
  • Ensure proper reporting with all appropriate internal and external agencies, clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-house audits of all practices throughout the employee lifecycle including, performance management, onboarding, offboarding, leave management, compensation, benefits, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • With COE’s, identify areas of opportunity and necessary corrective actions.
  • Partner with members of the legal department, Human Resources colleagues, COE’s, and outside counsel to advise on people practices.
  • Partner with internal Human Resources colleagues, COE’s, business leaders, and other internal operational functions to understand opportunities and create solution to appropriately navigate diversity, inclusion and compliance issues.

What you will need:

  • Minimum B.S or B.A; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of business experience and 7+ years dedicated, full-time D&I strategic leadership.
  • Broad knowledge of diversity, inclusion and equity processes, best practices, and resources on a global scale.
  • Proven success driving successful D&I strategies, with clearly articulated outcomes.
  • Credibility with business leaders in understanding the P&L and key levers of a business.
  • Ability to use/analyze data and metrics to drive outcomes.
  • Experience in influencing the C-Suite and Senior Leaders.
  • Broad experience planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs.=
  • Proven track record creating foundational elements of an effective compliance program such as drafting policies, creating and delivering training, and implementing effective compliance auditing and monitoring programs.
  • Significant experience with the relevant laws, rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships across the company, ideally in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with expertise building, managing and scaling complex programs that involve a global audience, change management, and multiple organizational partners in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to set clear and challenging goals, committing the organization to improved performance and accountable for driving results.
  • Good people skills and willing to devote time and effort to mentor and sponsor employees on career development.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Strong track record of driving business results.
