As new technology continues to be integrated into the workplace, guidance is needed to protect workers and their rights, including the rights to privacy, nondiscrimination, just and favorable working conditions, freedom of expression, and freedom of association.
This human rights assessment examines the impact of workplace technology on workers, focusing on three sectors: public administration, healthcare, and logistics. Across these sectors, when technology is implemented without robust consideration of potential impacts on workers, they may experience human rights and psychosocial impacts or adverse mental and physical health outcomes.
Based on interviews with workers, unions, and experts from across the world, this report offers recommendations for mitigating risks to workers and ensuring a worker-centered approach to the integration of workplace technologies.
