The past several years has seen increasing armed violence, global health challenges, climate-related crises and geopolitical uncertainty—which present challenges for business and society as a whole. This workshop will focus on what good practice is for business and investors in an era of increasing uncertainty. It will explore current and emerging challenges for business in conflict-affected and high-risk areas, stakeholder and investor expectations of business, what enhanced due diligence by companies means in practice, and dilemmas companies have faced, and lessons learned, related to responsible entry and exit from zones of conflict.
This side event on conflict is a closed-door session hosted by The Business and Conflict Community. It will bring together representatives from the business sector, including investors, as well as members of the community, including international organizations, academic institutions, NGOs, and expert consultants, to unpack some of the key debates underpinning contemporary business action in conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
Attendance is by invitation only. To discuss this topic while in Geneva, reach out to Jenna Kowalevsky at hello@bsr.org.
