Artificial Intelligence (AI) is disrupting how we live, interact, work, do business, and govern. While the human benefits of AI could be significant, it is crucial to undertake effective due diligence into the human rights impacts, risks, and uncertainties associated with AI.
To help meet this need, this half-day event will feature an overview of BSR’s research on AI and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) as well as insights from Microsoft on its recent human rights impact assessment of AI. Interactive “futures” sessions will explore innovative approaches to anticipating issues and how to take tangible steps toward implementing the UNGPs in a future-proof manner.
Curated, industry-specific roundtable discussions will explore:
- Human rights issues arising from the use of AI in the financial services, retail, healthcare, and transportation industries.
- Key barriers and solutions to integrating human rights practices into company structure and processes, such as engineering, design, policy, and legal.
This event is part of a series of global “Redefining Sustainable Business” convenings that will generate insights to help reshape how we think about the sustainable business agenda. These dialogues will feed into content that will be disseminated at the BSR Conference 2018 in New York, November 6-8.
