To promote health and health equity as core components of climate action.

To work in partnership across sectors to discern and amplify joint business action, address community health inequalities, improve community resilience, and deploy a broad-based communication strategy to educate and promote action.

Our Strategy for Impact

To pursue its mission of achieving positive and equitable health outcomes and addressing historic and current injustices, CHEC’s strategy involved taking collective action to tackle climate change. Through cross-sector collaboration, elevation of on-the-ground voices, and directing resources to the communities most affected by climate change, public and private sector actors came together to build and amplify solutions that ensured community resilience and the health of people and planet.

How We Work

The Centering Health Equity within Climate Action initiative aimed to generate support for increased climate ambition in the US. This involved:

• Convening frontline communities, businesses, and academic institutions to address the growing problem of health equity within the context of climate change.
• Engaging partners in a collaborative process to share knowledge, challenges, priorities, and opportunities to co-create solutions to the nation's most pressing climate and health concerns.
• Developing a toolkit for business leaders to start embedding health equity into their climate and nature strategies.
