Has Everything Changed, or Has Nothing Changed?

Melanie oversees communications strategy and activities for BSR, managing a team of communications experts supporting the organization’s work globally.

In this role, she creates communications platforms and programs that advance BSR’s mission of working with business to create a just and sustainable world. She is responsible for marketing and communications with members and other companies, as well as civil society, international organizations, and media. With her team, she ensures content and editorial excellence for all materials and reports released by the organization. She also leads brand strategy, digital communications, media relations, and the annual BSR Conference.

Prior to joining BSR, Melanie was director of marketing communications at Environmental Defense Fund, where she worked with leading global corporations such as Walmart, FedEx, and KKR on sustainable business strategy. She also managed global communications teams at Greenpeace and the ocean conservation group SeaWeb. While living in Geneva, Switzerland, Melanie worked at the World Economic Forum as part of the program team responsible for creating and delivering the Davos Annual Meeting. She speaks French, Italian, and English.

Melanie holds an M.A. in International Affairs from the Fletched School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a B.A. in Modern European History from Brown University.
