Ryan Schuchard, Manager, Climate and Energy
Consulting & Member Services | San Francisco
Ryan manages BSR's climate and energy practice, which provides practical climate solutions for companies across industries, while leading energy industry players—from renewable energy manufacturers to fossil fuel producers—to develop a more sustainable energy mix.
His recent work includes helping Walmart launch their supplier energy efficiency program in China, leading Expedia to assess climate risk and respond to the Carbon Disclosure Project, producing Suntech Power's first sustainability report, and identifying the global landscape of climate change stakeholders for a $30 billion mining company.
He has played roles developing multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s Value Chain (Scope 3) standard and Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition's Supply Chain Carbon Reporting System, and today is part of establishing the Solar Energy Industry Association's commitment to sustainability.
Ryan has co-authored chapters in Corporate Responses to Climate Change (Greenleaf Publishing), Carbon Trading (ICFAI Books), Global Corruption Report: Climate Change (Transparency International), and BSR’s industry analysis on climate change adaptation.
Ryan has an M.B.A. from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a B.S. in Finance from Oregon State University. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Central Asia and is proficient in Russian.
