Peter Nestor

With a strong background in international law, journalism, and labor rights, Peter works with our human rights team in the ICT, extractives, and consumer products industries, developing human rights management systems, impact assessments, and responsible labor initiatives.

Prior to joining BSR, Peter was an attorney in the litigation practice of an international law firm based in Silicon Valley. He spent significant time in China working as a journalist with the Economist Intelligence Unit and as a freelance consultant in Shanghai. Peter has published extensively on human rights, Chinese legal reform, rural development, and entrepreneurship, and has completed consulting engagements on supply chain management, branding, and business operations in China. Peter also worked on rural education projects in Yunnan Province and volunteered with the International Labor Rights Forum and Bay Area Legal Aid.

Peter holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal; and a B.A. from Middlebury College. Peter is proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
