As Director of Advisory Services, Chengbo is responsible for building BSR's presence in China, working closely with BSR's Advisory Services and Partnership Development teams to develop business opportunities and deliver consulting projects. His primary focus is on Chinese companies working in China and expanding overseas, partnership development with appropriate funders and partners, and external relations and communications, initially in Beijing and Shanghai, and then widening to other projects throughout China and Asia.

Prior to BSR, Chengbo served as a senior independent consultant, focusing on sustainable development issues. His clients have included international organizations, central and local governmental sectors, and large companies. He was a short-term technical consultant for Low Carbon City China program, launched by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Sector. He has also worked for government organizations and international NGOs, accumulating rich experiences as the director of the China Low Carbon Leadership program at the Climate Group for two years, managing director of the Institute of Environment and Development /LEAD-China for more than 10 years, and division chief of a government sector for nine years. He led the development and launch of the 1000 Village Initiative, which was named a Lighthouse Project at the 2011 Durban World Climate Summit.

Chengbo is a Ph.D candidate in environmental economics at the Renmin University of China and holds an MSc. in biology from Beijing Agricultural University.
