Ryan Schuchard

Ryan manages BSR's climate and energy program, which develops practical climate strategies for companies across industries, while leading energy industry players--from renewable energy manufacturers to fossil fuel producers--to develop a more sustainable energy mix.

His work includes launching Walmart's supplier energy efficiency program in China, assessing climate risk and responding to the Carbon Disclosure Project for Expedia, producing Suntech Power's first sustainability report, facilitating dialogue between HP and Greenpeace on climate change, and managing Future of Fuels.

He has played roles developing multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol's Value Chain (Scope 3) standard, the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition's Supply Chain Carbon Reporting System, and the Solar Energy Industry Association's commitment to sustainability.

Ryan has authored dozens of reports and articles on climate change, including BSR's industry series on climate change adaptation. He has written book sections for Corporate Responses to Climate Change (Greenleaf), Carbon Trading (ICFAI Books), Global Corruption Report: Climate Change (Transparency International), and Operations Management: An Asian Perspective (McGraw-Hill).

Ryan holds an M.B.A. from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a B.S. in finance from Oregon State University. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in central Asia and is proficient in Russian.
