Robust research to advance business action on the world’s greatest challenges
With a focus on robust evidence and actionable insights, BSR’s experts investigate emerging issues and generate solutions for business to build a just and sustainable world. Through our research, we aim to shape and advance the debate, bridge the gap between corporate sustainability theory and practice, and provide high-quality information and analysis on key sustainability issues.
We combine primary and secondary research, drawing from credible sources, emerging analysis, and original insights from our vast network of project participants and member companies, as well as BSR’s deep experience working on sustainability challenges around the world. By tapping global and local business, government, and civil society networks, our research is informed by diverse perspectives and unique collaborations. To ensure high quality and objectivity, all of our in-depth reports undergo a rigorous internal and external peer review process.
We maintain high standards of excellence to ensure that all of our research products are grounded in fact and independent analysis. Our research offerings include reports, working papers, and briefs, and we conduct three types of research:
This paper on organizational culture summarizes conclusions from an extensive literature review and interviews with 70 experts and corporate leaders in sustainability, ethics, and compliance.
This Playbook proposes a framework for sustainable business leaders to succeed in the current U.S. economic and political context, both individually and through collaboration.
This paper from BSR's Healthcare Working Group aims to catalyze more innovative finance partnerships to address access barriers at each stage of the healthcare value chain.
Our Clean Cargo Working Group has released its annual disclosure on trade lane carbon-dioxide-emissions factors for ocean container transport.
