Marcela Pinilla

With over 10 years of experience in the sustainable investment industry, Marcela is a member of the financial services team and advises BSR members on the analysis and integration of ESG risks, opportunities, and impacts into investments in the public equity and alternatives space. She also serves clients in strategy development to meet evolving investor expectations on ESG performance and disclosure.

In her previous roles, she led primary ESG research and integration processes, engaged companies across sectors to improve sustainability performance, and advised clients on integrating ESG objectives into their portfolios. She was most recently director of sustainable investing at CBIS (Christian Brothers Investment Services), director of shareholder engagement at Mercy Investments, and ESG analyst at Boston Trust Walden. Marcela brings cross-sectoral expertise across ESG issues, including corporate governance, climate change, water risk, food systems, and supply chain sustainability.

Marcela has an M.S. in International Health Policy and Management and an M.B.A. focused on Sustainable Development from Brandeis University. She speaks fluent Spanish and English.
