Marat leads BSR’s HERproject programs in Bangladesh and India, working with companies, civil society, and academics to empower women workers in global supply chains. He also oversees HERrespect, the gender-based violence pillar of HERproject.
Prior to joining BSR, Marat worked with the Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response to develop research and capacity-building programs on community resilience in the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, he was a humanitarian worker with the Hong Kong Red Cross and worked at a grassroots NGO in India, training peer health educators in slums. He also served as a program specialist at the Mekong Institute. He is a member of the Programme and Advocacy Committee at Oxfam Hong Kong.
Marat studied as a Chevening Scholar and holds an M.Sc. in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a B.A. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong
