Joanna has worked on program design, business development, and communications for nonprofit organizations in Central America, Asia, and Africa. Prior to joining BSR, she supported the design of public-private partnerships for sustainable livelihoods in Bangladesh, as well as the establishment of a women’s empowerment program for post-conflict communities in Myanmar. Joanna also worked for a public health research organization on communications and research uptake in Bangladesh and conducted research on waste management and deforestation in rural Nicaragua.
Joanna has an M.A. with Honors in Anthropology from the University of Aberdeen and is a published writer and journalist. She is proficient in Spanish and Burmese.
