#Climate Change

One year ago, BSR launched Business in a Climate-Constrained World, which seeks to mobilize our business network, global reach, industry insights, and issue expertise in support of sustained business action on climate change.

This webinar will provide an update on our climate program, which is detailed in our new report “Creating an Action Agenda for Private-Sector Leadership on Climate Change.”

The discussion will also focus on collaborative opportunities that we are offering to our network to explore collective problems, create shared tools, build more resilient value chains, and educate diverse stakeholders on key climate change issues.

These collaborations include:

  • A portfolio of BSR-led working groups, which have focuses that range from reducing emissions from transportation fuel and electric power, to understanding climate science, to building the capacity to adapt to climate change.
  • Formation of the We Mean Business Coalition, a network of seven major business-facing NGOs working with business to address climate change, including BSR, CDP, Ceres, The Climate Group, and WBCSD, which offers a suite of initiatives to help companies to amplify their voice.
  • An alliance with the United Nations Environment Programme’s Climate and Clean Air Coalition, which is working to more creatively address critical climate pollutants beyond carbon dioxide—soot, methane, and refrigerant gases—that affect all companies and their supply chains.

This event will provide BSR members an overview of the various BSR collaborations and ways to get involved. The webinar will include a question-and-answer session with participants.

This year, companies have a critical opportunity to shape the international climate policy dialogue. Therefore, we will also discuss how these collaborative initiatives relate to international climate policy processes, including the COP21 talks in Paris, and how collaboration can help companies’ engagement during the so-called “2015 moment.”
