The recent U.S. election represented a cry for change from large numbers of Americans who feel that the existing economic system does not work for them. Addressing inclusive economic growth is clearly a political and economic necessity in the United States—and building an inclusive economy should be a more explicit part of companies’ sustainability strategies. This means more attention to maintaining quality employment in the face of automation and globalization, addressing income inequality and stagnating wages, and ensuring all Americans have access to affordable products and services and employment opportunities, regardless of where they live.
