Green Freight Asia Annual Forum: E-Mobility Transition in Asia Freight Transport

Singapore

Date and Time

Thursday September 26, 2019
9:00 am-5:00 pm SGT

Location

Singapore

Topics

#Supply Chain, #Transport and Logistics

In Asia, trucks used for goods delivery constitute only 9 percent of the total vehicle population but emit 54 percent of road transport emissions. Air pollution from transport could then be significantly reduced by addressing freight trucks rather than passenger cars, and one sustainable approach is the use of electric vehicles in freight transport. The use of electric vehicles for urban goods delivery is also a crucial step to achieving a company’s zero emission targets as part of its sustainability program.

This year’s Green Freight Asia Forum will highlight best practices of e-vehicle implementation in freight. There are growing success stories of companies using electric bikes and electric vans for last-mile deliveries in this region. However, there is still a massive information gap on their reliability, impact, and infrastructure requirements, which partly contributes to the slow adoption in Asia.

This gathering will bring policy-makers, supply chain professionals, sustainability executives, academe, non-profit professionals and environmentalists to explore opportunities for collaboration to facilitate and stimulate the adoption of e-vehicles in freight in the face of constraints. There will also be an exhibition of green technologies showcasing innovations that could help address pain points in greening the supply chain.
