BSR and Life Exhibitions are inviting a select number of business leaders to a high-level panel discussion to mark the inauguration of the 2030 NOW exhibition in New York City at Hudson Yards. This outdoor exhibition illustrates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through photographs taken by Yann-Arthus Bertrand and conveys the commitment of individuals from different backgrounds (global voices, local heroes, artists, and scientists) to THINK, CREATE, and ACT as they turn the SDGs into reality.

After the panel, the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, attended by a select number of dignitaries and 2030 NOW Ambassadors, will take place at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by a VIP cocktail reception. 2030 NOW has partnered with two beneficiary charities: Bring Change to Mind (Glenn Close, 2030 NOW Ambassador on Goal 3) and the Trevor Noah Foundation (2030 NOW Ambassador on Goal 4).

The SDGs are 17 goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. A critical success factor is the ability to mobilize private-sector resources—their assets, capabilities, ingenuity, knowledge, and networks—to address these systemic challenges and to bring about transformational change.

This high-level panel, which will focus on “Private Sector Mobilization to Deliver on the SDGs,” will bring together key global players to take stock of what actions the private sector has taken and what actions it can take to deliver the SDGs. The discussion will seek to identify private sector actions for the SDGs along these principles:

  • Value to Business and Society: Prioritize issues that deliver business value as well as significant societal impact.
  • Solutions That Motivate: Advance solutions that engage participants’ core business strategies and tap into their full range of assets: capabilities, ingenuity, knowledge, reputation, networks, and financial resources.
  • Stakeholder Inclusion: Ensure collaborative solutions that account for stakeholder and rightsholder perspectives, as well as optimizing impacts and mitigating risks for beneficiaries.
  • Action Orientation: Select efforts that are actionable to deliver change and impact. Move fast and be prepared to adapt.
