Job Description

Be a trusted partner to the CR Team by driving enterprise integration and execution of Target’s Corporate Responsibility strategy. A role with CR means you will be part of a team that helps shape Target’s environmental and social strategies to drive impact for our guests, team members, communities, and planet. You will lead through strategic analysis, consultative problem solving, and operational rigor as you manage the implementation of complex projects and operationalize processes that support sustainability integration into the business, and further internal engagement in CR initiatives. As a Sr. Manager, Corporate Responsibility you will report directly to the Sr. Director of Corporate Responsibility and be responsible for:

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a talented team, and coach them to be their best
  • Navigate, connect, and grow partnerships across Target to facilitate mutual understanding, alignment, action and accountability
  • Facilitate discussions and decision-making with the CR Leadership Team, as well as other leaders across the enterprise as applicable
  • Support the CR Leadership Team and Sr. Director with critical, ad hoc initiatives
  • Work closely with Strategy & Operations peers within Marketing, and across other pyramids

Strategic Analysis

  • Evaluate opportunities to enable growth, resolve gaps, mitigate risks, and further integrate sustainability and social impact internally, and achieve competitive advantage externally (includes current state reviews, stakeholder analyses, brand/reputational impact, and competitive overview)
  • Use your financial and business acumen to build internally and externally facing ‘business cases’ that articulate and quantify the business and societal benefits of sustainability and social impact initiatives
  • Stay current on and proactively monitor trends, research, reports in sustainability and social impact. Be able to distill key insights, and elevate learnings for knowledge sharing and communication to multiple audiences
  • Coordinate across the enterprise to monitor progress against Target’s corporate responsibility goals, elevating risks when needed, highlighting opportunities and gaps to leadership

Strategic Project Management

  • Codify and coach best practice project management capabilities, tools/systems for standardization across CR
  • Oversee and guide CR Sr. Strategists as they manage strategic projects and implementation efforts within CR and across the enterprise to support critical priorities
  • Develop strategies and manage implementation of large, cross pyramid, strategic initiatives that address growth areas and/or address operational improvements when needed

Planning & Operations

  • Build process infrastructure that integrates with and supports Marketing to enable greater alignment
  • Operationalize and support key management systems, including annual Business Planning, quarterly and monthly business and goal reviews, and CR LT offsites; prepare progress dashboards; facilitate discussion when needed
  • Oversee operational improvements and efficiencies that streamline, enable visibility, and drive decision-making
  • Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of work experience that may include stints in Merchandising, Marketing, Corporate Strategy, or Strategy Operations
  • Experience leading a team, and/or demonstrated coaching, mentorship, and influencing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, problem and project structuring, and operational efficiencies
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate trends and analytics into actionable solutions
  • Robust project management expertise, including leading complex, high visibility initiatives; large cross functional teams; multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience leveraging a project management toolkit and governance systems to enable stakeholder engagement, ensure accountability, and drive initiative success
  • Ability to work independently on ambiguous projects; comfort with driving decision-making in spite of incomplete information
  • Strong relationship building skills and proven track record of managing cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong people management and communication skills, including the ability to influence at all levels
  • Ability to create compelling materials to align team, executives, and key stakeholders (PowerPoint decks), and verbal storytelling/presentation skills to * various levels of audience
