Program Manager—Sustainability

Job Description

Lead Animal Health and Welfare, Agricultural Engagement, and Sustainability strategy, policy development, implementation, and results monitoring for protein categories in McDonald’s U.S. supply chain.  This position report to the U.S. Sustainable Sourcing Director.

Responsibilities

In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not  limited to:

• Continue to develop and advance U.S. supply chain animal health and welfare initiatives and execution plans. 
• Promote a common vision and direction within the supply chain team and the supplier community
• Represent the U.S. on the global sustainable supply teams 
• Bringing the strategic roadmap for Animal Health and Welfare, Agricultural Engagement, and Sustainability in our protein supply chains to life
• Serve as strategic partner with Quality Systems and Strategic Sourcing
• Help drive progress on our beef sustainability strategy in the US
• Create a process for ongoing supplier engagement and best practices sharing 
• Develop metrics for tracking and articulating results
• Identify opportunities for collaboration with industry , stakeholders, and NGOs and develop and maintain relationships with key partners
• Partner with communications to “tell our story” to internal and external stakeholders
• Manage sustainable supply emerging issues

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors in animal science, veterinary medicine, agriculture, and/or related field
• 5+ years of experience working in animal agriculture and/or related field 

Preferred Qualifications

• A demonstrated passion for sustainability and a vision for the future of agriculture
• Previous experience managing diverse stakeholders
• Strong strategy  and policy development skills
• A high level of communication and interpersonal skills
• Project Management expertise
• Knowledge of industry trends and practices
• Collaborative and team oriented approach
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• A global mind-set
