Job Description

The Manager, Environment works with the Director, Global Sustainability and key internal functions to drive forward Tiffany’s global environmental strategy and implementation of our environmental goals. Key areas include climate, energy and sustainable buildings, biodiversity & ecosystems, circular economy, sustainable packaging, waste reduction and water stewardship. The Manager will be responsible for advancing the company’s approach, providing strategic input and recommendations, for developing business cases, and for facilitating cross-functional collaboration. The Manager reports to the Director, Global Sustainability.

Responsibilities:

Environmental Programs:

  • Drive and advance the company’s global environmental work in line with Tiffany’s 2025 Sustainability Goals and leadership ambitions
  • Monitor trends, developments and innovations in the field, translate these into strategies to evolve the company’s approach and develop new ideas to ensure continued leadership
  • Translate strategies into plans and initiatives, assess the business case and model impacts, including financials
  • Prepare presentations for and support engagement with leadership and key internal functions to build buy-in
  • Drive execution of plans and initiatives, in collaboration with key internal functions
  • Collaborate with Senior Analyst, Sustainability Reporting, to track environmental metrics and progress towards goals
  • Perform analysis of environmental metrics and evaluate Tiffany’s environmental performance and goals progress to identify gaps and opportunities, based on environmental impacts/benefits, the broader Sustainability strategy as well as needs of the business
  • Contribute to, and provide expertise on, environmental disclosures and reporting, including tracking trends and evolving the current approach, as well as contributing to Tiffany’s annual sustainability report and the LVMH Group’s reporting

Climate Change

  • Drive and evolve the company’s work in the following areas:
  • Global renewable energy and carbon offset strategies (drawing on different mechanisms such as on-site solar, vPPAs, green tariffs / utility programs, global energy attributes and RECs, offsets)
  • Scope 3 emissions reduction strategy
  • Climate risk assessment and management
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint in a just, equitable manner
  • Provide strategic input and ongoing feedback on the company’s approach in the following areas:
  • Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions mitigation efforts driven by Real Estate and Manufacturing
  • Scope 3 reduction efforts, driven by partners across the organization
  • Sustainable building strategies for office, retail and manufacturing, including LEED certification, driven by Real Estate and Manufacturing

Biodiversity & Ecosystems and Circular Economy

  • In line with Tiffany’s 2025 Sustainability Goals and building upon Tiffany’s extensive conservation efforts, work with the Director to develop an overarching Biodiversity strategy to further evolve our work in this area
  • In line with Tiffany’s 2025 Sustainability Goals, work with the Director to further identify key circular economy opportunities for Tiffany
  • Educate internal stakeholders and partner with various teams to implement opportunities and further embed biodiversity and circular economy considerations into the business
  • Further evolve measurement strategies

Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Sustainability Team and key internal functions such as Real Estate, Finance, Retail, Manufacturing, Distribution, Occupational Safety & Environmental Management, Facilities, Responsible Sourcing, Procurement and Legal
  • Engage with external partners, related to the company’s environmental work
  • Manage external consultants, including managing budgets, project timelines and deliverables

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications/Primary Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sustainability, and/or environmental subject area including Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Climate Change, Safety and Occupational Health, or similar
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience from a CSR/sustainability, environmental or similar role in the private sector, an NGO working with business, or a top-tier consulting firm
  • Proven experience managing and executing a private sector organization’s environmental strategy, with experience in several or all of the following areas:
    • Climate and energy, including sustainable building practices, Scope 3 emissions strategy, renewable and carbon offset strategies, climate risk assessment and management
    • Biodiversity & ecosystems
    • Circular economy
    • Sustainable packaging
  • Excellent grasp of sustainability and environmental concepts and issues more broadly, including climate & energy, sustainable buildings, biodiversity, circular economy and sustainable packaging strategies and best practices, science-based targets, GHG accounting, Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure, other emerging trends and concepts
  • Proven ability to develop business cases, model impacts, including financial implications, and build buy-in and environmental competency
  • Familiarity with academic, government, NGOs and key global initiatives and partnerships active in the environmental ecosystem
  • Strategic thinker with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates ownership, works independently to contribute to the team’s goals and objectives
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while working under short deadlines
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Fluent in both written and conversational English
  • Microsoft office skills are critical
  • Team player

Preferred Qualifications/Primary Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working in a luxury or other retail company with high-profile consumer brands
