The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility Research and Reporting that will serve as a key member of the Social Responsibility team working to strengthen the company’s CSR strategy with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with our segments, regions, and corporate departments, the role will play a prominent role in leading the company’s reporting practices including materiality assessments, ESG disclosures, and the company’s annual CSR report. The Manager will also oversee the regular review of data summarized by ESG firms and rating agencies, and make recommendations to strengthen Disney’s position as appropriate. The Manager will have a unique opportunity to serve as an integral thought partner to the CSR leadership and Investor Relations team, helping translate stakeholder interests, material data points, and key trends into strategy that will shape the future of Disney CSR.

Responsibilities:

Serve as subject matter expert on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, stakeholder engagement, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) measurement strategy. The manager will be responsible for strengthening The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC’s) CSR strategy, through a focus on ESG reporting, disclosures, measurement and stakeholder engagement plans.

Research & Insights

The expertise in managing Environmental Social Responsibility is key to success in this role and a primary responsibility. Requires experience in ESG reporting. Develop a proactive approach to gather, curate, and share relevant research, benchmarking, and marketplace insights to inform the company’s CSR strategy, with a focus on reporting, disclosures and stakeholder-specific communications / engagement. Lead partnership with Corporate Brand Research to complete the annual CSR tracker and to identify other research where CSR measures should be integrated. Lead TWDC’s reporting practices including public disclosures relevant data tied to ESG and CSR. Lead collaboration with Investor Relations, Global Public Policy, Diversity & Inclusion, Human Resources, and other departments to stay abreast of priorities for ESG issues and develop TWDC strategy for ESG disclosure and pertinent ratings/rankings. Oversee the regular review of TWDC data summarized by ESG firms and rating agencies; lead TWDC submission process where applicable, including alignment with ESG reporting frameworks.

Reporting and Measurement

Lead TWDC’s reporting practices including public disclosures of CSR/ESG data, TWDC’s CSR, and materiality assessments. This work may include historical audit of TWDC reporting, industry benchmarking, internal and external stakeholder engagement, development of reporting framework, report information gathering, report content development and report distribution & communications plan. Collaborate closely with Investor Relations, Global Public Policy, D&I, HR, and other departments to stay abreast of ESG priorities. Oversee and lead monitoring of CSR/ESG ratings & rankings. Develop ratings & rankings strategy for TWDC, working closely with other corporate departments and segments. Oversee data collection and application submission for relevant rankings. Manage KPI development and measurement for strategic programs, working with programs teams.

Strategy Development

Serve as integral contributor to develop the TWDC CSR strategy, working with the leadership team. Package key CSR insights, issues, and benchmarking information to help the leadership team make informed, fact-based decisions. Develop and execute a strategic CSR stakeholder-specific communication and engagement plan, including a CSR speaker series strategy. Lead ongoing engagement with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Global Public Policy, Investor Relations, HR, Diversity Inclusion) to ensure strategy recommendations reflect best thinking of and for the company, and that the recommendations are feasible. As needed, manage the development of strategy presentations and materials, working closely with CSR leadership team. Develop and implement the measurement of outcomes for Corporate Social Responsibility programs and initiatives.The manager will work to strengthen ESR strategic planning and integration, and will be an integral partner to our segments, regions, and corporate departments (e.g., Global Public Policy, Diversity & Inclusion, Investor Relations, HR).

Basic Qualifications:

  • This role requires an expertise in ESG reporting, with the proven ability to project manage multiple work streams and deliver exceptional results. GRI (or equivalent) certification a plus.
  • Significant professional career experience in Corporate Social Responsibility with high levels of personal accountability for reporting and strategic work.
  • The role requires a bright strategic thinker with a strong understanding of social responsibility issues, experience working with external stakeholders, and an ability to articulate social responsibility issues and topics in a way business leaders will understand. The successful candidate will bring interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in Microsoft office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt behavior and approach to different people and situations.
  • Knowledge of various reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP) and/or investor-preferred evaluations (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of increasing responsibility in CSR, and /or ESG reporting in a large publicly-held corporation.
  • In depth knowledge of various reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP) and/or investor-preferred evaluations (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS).
  • GRI (or equivalent) certification.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic development skills.

Required Education

  • 4 year Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Education

  • Degree in environment management, public policy, sustainability or related field, a plus.
  • Master’s in Business, Public Policy, Communications a plus.
