Job Description

The Local & Sustainable Product Lead represents the first role within US Foods that is fully dedicated to sustainability. The purpose of this role is to drive long term planning and a standardized approach around local and sustainable sourcing and product initiatives. This person will provide expertise in the sustainable product field, both internally and for our customers.

Description

  • Lead long term planning for Local & Sustainable product launches. Work with Product Developers and Category Managers in key strategic categories to define and prioritize launches.
  • Manage long term local and sustainable product launch deliverables and work with teams to remove barriers to on time delivery.
  • Lead local and sustainable product expertise for National Accounts customers. Through collaboration in software development, ensure that National Accounts customer needs are reflected in our data capabilities.
  • Create and organize enterprise wide education around sustainable product issues such as non GMO, Sustainable Seafood, Animal Care and Food Waste by engaging outside speakers, incorporating insights into marketing material and driving momentum around the internal discussion.
  • Represent the voice of local and sustainable product knowledge on behalf of US Foods both internally and externally on US Food’s position around sustainable sourcing and our Serve Good designation
  • Assist in defining the enterprise wide Centralized Sourcing Replenishment position
  • Work with Brands Manager to define and evolve Serve Good brand definition
  • Ensure internal alignment and compliance by engaging key cross functional stakeholders such as Legal, Regulatory Affairs and FSQA.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Undergraduate Degree (preferably incorporating sustainability)
  • Culinary Degree of benefit

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • 4+ years of foodservice experience specifically in regards to cooperator challenges, menu usage and food costs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience researching and commercializing sustainable products

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge base around complex issues such as sustainable seafood, GMO’s, Organics and Animal Care Claims.
  • Excellent facilitation and consensus building skills
  • Strong organizational skills and communication skills – written and verbal
  • Presentation Skills
