Job Description

Basic qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Political, Human or Social Sciences, International Relations or International Development, Social or Political Geography, Anthropology or related subject

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of potential human rights issues faced by a complex manufacturing organisation operating around the world, including technical aspects of labour rights
  • Understanding of how NGOs, multilateral agencies and governments operate, particularly with respect to human rights
  • Capacity to gather and assimilate relevant information, use it to assess potential business impacts and develop innovative management strategies.
  • Ability to work within political and business processes to find effective approaches
  • Consult and gain consensus for solutions, working with senior managers.
  • Written and verbal communication skills for messaging to internal and external audiences of all types and levels.
  • Leading projects and teams to produce high quality outputs on time and within budget

Details:

This role is integral to supporting GSK’s efforts to uphold human rights. The role will involve engaging with internal and external stakeholders to drive and support change in line with the UN Guiding Principles of Business and Human Rights, providing expertise on labour rights issues within our supply chain and ensuring that external stakeholders have access to information on our approach to human rights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead GSK’s work to understand our commitment to address the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights across GSK’s operations. Work with key stakeholders internally and externally to develop approaches and drive and support change
  • Manage the effective operation of GSK’s cross-functional Human Rights Steering Group which provides direction and oversight of policy, processes and performance required to meet GSK’s human rights commitments
  • Understand external trends and expectations in GSK’s priority human rights areas and bring these in to the organisation to ensure GSK’s approach is appropriate and effective, through policy development and supporting implementation
  • Provide high quality communications within GSK and externally, including public reporting through the Modern Slavery Act statement and Responsible Business Supplement
  • Provide expertise on supply chain labour rights issues, working on GSK’s Third Party Oversight programme to contribute to its development and to assess suppliers
  • Identify training needs, create training plan
