Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Apollo is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented ESG professional to join the Sustainability team and manage Apollo’s ESG annual reporting, driving alignment with existing and evolving standards such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), etc. This role will collaborate with others on the team and across the firm (including the Chief Sustainability Officer, ESG Legal Counsel, Climate Strategy Lead, Corporate Communications and others) to interpret the assessment, measurement, reporting, and communication of ESG data and information to various stakeholders. This position will have significant responsibilities related to Apollo’s ESG reporting, disclosure, and transparency with both investors and internal personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive best-in-class ESG reporting standards, by working cross-functionally, to capture and analyze macro and micro trends, global developments and risks, stakeholder expectations, current and new ESG legislation, and mandatory and voluntary disclosures.
  • Ensure Apollo’s ESG reporting is evolving to best-in-class expectations and aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and other related frameworks including but not limited to ISS ESG, Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and EcoVadis.
  • Establish timeline, process and project management for publishing the report in a timely fashion and building annual improvement plans enhancing the report each year to drive toward industry-leading sustainability.
  • Coordinate and manage the collection of qualitative and quantitative data across the Apollo platform.
  • Partner with others, including internal and external stakeholders and team members, with regards to ESG data collection and reporting activities.
  • Identify innovative and efficient approaches to sustainability/ESG data, story collection and reporting, including publication of metrics, proof-points, integrated reporting, and also to enhance authenticity and creativity.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date presentation materials for meetings with various stakeholder groups.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and Sustainability.
  • At least 2-year track record of developing and delivering qualitative and quantitative sustainability and ESG reporting.
  • Understanding and knowledge of fundamental ESG frameworks, principles, conventions, regulatory regimes, etc. as noted in “Primary Responsibilities.”
  • Highly organized and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to tolerate ambiguity and navigate complex business and projects.
  • Strong verbal, writing, editing, data visualization and PowerPoint skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills; builds and maintains strong relationships/credibility with counterparties.
  • People management or team coordination experience is preferred.
  • Excels in a fast-paced, rigorous work environment; effectively prioritizes and meets deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-guided work ethic with results-driven orientation.
