Public Affairs brings together teams responsible for engaging with the company’s stakeholders. This organization exists to support, strengthen and protect Wells Fargo’s reputation by building trust and positive societal impact for all of our stakeholders. Teams within Public Affairs include: Corporate Communications, Corporate Philanthropy and Community Relations; Government Relations and Public Policy; Platform and Digital Services; Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility and Public Affairs Chief Operating Office.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, this position will sit within the sustainable finance center of excellence which works with our line of business partners and leading NGO organizations to support customer engagement, increase the focus on positive social impact and sustainability business opportunities. This newly created position will develop climate transition pathways for carbon-intensive sectors working with lines of businesses and non-governmental organizations (NGO). They will partner with LOBs to engage clients and provide tools and analysis to support climate alignment and the transition pathways needed to address climate change by sector.

The preferred location for this position is in Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; St. Louis, MO; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO or Washington, DC. Other Wells Fargo locations may be considered.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Educate customers and relationship managers about risk management, innovative technologies and business strategies to transition their business to a low carbon future.
  • Identify solutions to encourage partnership with companies that meet our climate commitment
  • Analyze and research carbon intensive technologies that support the needs of our clients and stakeholders
  • Engage with non-government organizations and other representatives focused on climate change and transition finance
  • Serve as a trusted partner to line of business leaders, offering expertise on climate aligned trends and strategies
  • Support the development of innovative approaches and strategies
  • Seek opportunities to advance storytelling around Wells Fargo’s position on climate change

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of community development experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 2+ years sustainable finance experience, climate-related program experience or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders about importance of climate change and developing decarbonization strategies
  • Experience analyzing data and developing effective strategies that manage risk and move the business forward
  • Experience presenting information in a manner that persuades and enhances understanding at all levels
  • Experience building strong relationships and collaborating across large organizations

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
