As manager of BSR's Energy and Extractives Practice in Asia, Chris co-leads the organization's work with mining, oil, and gas companies in the region. He has participated in various field projects in Asia—including Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, and the Philippines—focused on social risk management, stakeholder engagement, strategic community development, human rights and security, and local content and economic development. Chris has worked on several multi-billion dollar resource-development and operations phase projects with BSR member companies in project management and functional capacities, helping manage social risks and opportunities for commercial and sustainability performance.
Prior to joining BSR, Chris worked as a Jakarta-based independent consultant, focusing on stakeholder engagement in Indonesia, Thailand, and Timor-Leste and facilitating economic policy exchanges between the governments of Timor-Leste and El Salvador. Chris has a background in governance programs: He worked for the International Republican Institute, managing and implementing U.S. government-funded democracy and governance programs focused on Burma, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste.
Chris holds a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in political science and African studies.
