In June 2011, the United Nations Human Rights Council endorsed a new set of Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Implementing the United Nations “Protect, Respect, Remedy” Framework, providing companies with a global standard for mitigating the risk of adverse impacts on human rights linked to business activity. Join BSR workshop to explore how information and communications technology (ICT) companies can apply the Guiding Principles.

Over the past year, BSR has explored how ICT companies can apply the Guiding Principles in their business operations. The BSR workshop will review the ICT industry best practices and discuss the following areas:

  • Lessons learned after one year of experience working with the Guiding Principles
  • Practical solutions to help companies address the Guiding Principles’ expectations
  • Insight on how can companies contribute to the “remedy” expectations, especially when operating in non-democratic and fragile State business environments

Learning from a global round of discussions and numerous engagements with leading ICT companies and through different collaborative initiatives and projects, BSR will release the version 2.0 of its report “Applying the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights to the ICT Industry”.

Speakers

  • Susana Gallego Lobato, Corporate Sustainability & Reputation, Telefonica
  • Farid Baddache, Director Europe, BSR
  • Dunstan Allison Hope, Managing Director, Advisory Services
