On August 16, BSR will host a forum (in Chinese only) to discuss bringing new ideas and proven models from overseas but adapting them for implementation by local organizations in China.
China’s development is at a critical stage. The country faces increasing social, economic and environmental challenges and needs to look to both domestic and international solutions which can be scaled up in order to have the greatest possible impact and success in tackling these challenges. On August 16, BSR will host a forum (in Chinese only) to discuss bringing new ideas and proven models from overseas but adapting them for implementation by local organizations in China.
The forum will feature the launch of BSR's latest report and will include presentations from the Narada Foundation, Taproot Foundation, CiYuan (BSR), Dialogue in the Dark and the China Foundation Center. It will be an opportunity for guests to hear about the experiences of local organizations who have successfully adapted international models in China.
The Speakers:
- Liu Zhouhong, Secretary General, Narada Foundation
- Aaron Hurst, President & Founder, Taproot Foundation
- Chen Juan, Manager, Asia, Office of Global Social Innovation, HP
- Brooke Avory, Manager, CiYuan, BSR
- Zhai Yan, Director & Founder, Huizeren
- Tao Ze, Vice President, China Foundation Center
- Cai Shiyin, Founder & CEO, Dialogue Social Enterprise China
The Featured Programs
Taproot Foundation: Since 2010, BSR, HP, and the Narada Foundation have supported efforts by Huizeren to implement the Taproot Foundation’s pro bono program in China. The program makes business talent available to non-profits through skilled employee volunteering programs.
Dialogue Social Enterprise China: Dialogue Social Enterprise (DSE) creates exhibitions and workshops in either complete darkness--“Dialogue in the Dark”--or absolute silence--“Dialogue in Silence”--facilitated by blind or deaf guides and trainers. Dialogue Programs help overcome disability-related prejudices, while empowering disabled people through employment.
China Foundation Center: China Foundation Center is the world's leading source of information on foundations in China combining industry expertise with innovative technology. China Foundation Center believes that the transparency of foundations can increase donations and more effective solutions to social-problems.
