CSR Jobs | Sustainability Measurement and Analytics (SMA) Manager at McDonald's
Position Purpose
The Sustainability Measurement and Analytics (SMA) Manager is responsible for the collection, reporting and analysis of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) data across the McDonald’s System to enable the development of credible and robust global sustainability targets and measurement. The SMA Manager will work with the various business functions to aggregate of sustainability metrics to demonstrate progress towards sustainability targets. The Data Manager will serve as the key liaison with the IT project managers in the development of a new data consolidation approach/system, will be the key contact with our third-party auditors in the eventual assurance of our sustainability data, and will work closely with the Director of Sustainability and Integration to support sustainability reporting.
This individual has expertise in data collection, with a strong ability to pull data from disparate sources and analyze the data, and to tell a story from the data. This individual also has the ability to use the data to formulate ideas and create presentations and other communications vehicles to express the ideas brought forth by the data and to bring insights to leaders within McDonald’s in order to assess how we are growing our business by making a positive difference in society.
Principal Accountabilities
In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develops and oversees McDonald’s Sustainability and CSR data collection and analysis strategy
- Provides analytical insight to help determine the organization’s future direction and initiatives in the areas of sustainability and CSR
- Consolidates learning to provide clear direction to management including the identification of strengths and weaknesses of our sustainability and CSR strategies
- Provides in-depth subject matter advice and consulting to the Area of the World (AOW) sustainability leads
- Closely coordinates with the Sustainability Reporting Manager on the development of our annual sustainability reporting and communications strategy and manages all related data collection and analytical requirements
- Provides key inputs and data coordination for the the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)/Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and other related investor questionnaires
- Visualization of data to tell a compelling story
- Analyzes and translates information based on research results and relevant secondary information into insights and actionable recommendations for business decisions
- Develops innovative research techniques and databases which will help with scenario planning and materiality analysis
- Uses qualitative, quantitative, multivariate and modeling techniques and approaches to evaluate sustainability and CSR data
- Coordinates with the Sustainability Reporting Manager to ensures integrity of sustainability and CSR data for eventual third-party assurance
- Accountable for ensuring all initiatives within the portfolio are completed on-time, on budget and consistent with requirements and objectives
Experience
- BA: in engineering, computer science, mathematics, marketing research, statistics, economics or related field required.
- MBA a plus
- 5+ years of relevant work experience required.
- Good working knowledge of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and other global standards like ISO26000 and the WRI/WBCSD Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
- Hands-on data management and data analysis experience, including database building, data mining, and multivariate analysis; predictive modeling techniques a plus
- Understands the systems responsible for the current collection of sustainability and CSR data supports measurement tools, processes and reporting tools
- Comfort working on-site in a fast-paced, team environment and with global clients and customers
- Ability to transform complex analytics into a simple, visual story to influence decision makers
- Experience with Sustainability Data Management Systems (especially Credit 360) a plus
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, manage scope and contain risks
- Passionate about data and metrics. Quantitative reasoning skills, including the ability to work with numbers and to summarize data into graphical or tabular forms
- Strong presentation skills. The ability to present, explain and discuss results of analyses to effectively drive fact-based decision making within all levels of the organization
- Experience with Excel and PowerPoint using advanced level spreadsheet analytics for developing presentation
- Experience working Microsoft Access or similar relational databases. SQL skills beneficial
