SUMMARY:
The SCI Lead Assessor conducts SCI assessments in the South Asia region and contributes to the implementation and development of Sustainable Compliance Initiative, including policies, tools and strategies. The incumbent of this position enhances the communication with internal and external stakeholders.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Organize, conduct, and report on assessments, including dealing with external stakeholders such as enterprise management, workers and unions, Ministry of Labor officials, civil society representatives and international buyers. Assess progress in the implementation of recommended remediation measures and activities, including sustainability (50%)
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the FLA Sustainable Compliance Initiative, including its policies, tools and strategies & provide trainings on assessment skills and practices to internal SCI assessors (20%)
- Actively support the FLA’s due diligence activities by observing and providing feedback about member companies’ auditing, and training activities (10%)
- Monitor the development and enhancement of regional labor laws and regulations, as well as other relevant laws and regulations, and regional employment trends for selected countries (10%)
- Enhance the communication with FLA internal stakeholders and provide feedback to external inquiries about SCI assessments and FLA Code & Benchmark (5%)
- Facilitate required meetings, training, seminars and workshops; attend required CSR Network Activities; represent the FLA as required (5%)

KEY SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Excellent analytical capacity to contribute to the analysis, evaluation and adjustment of the FLA Sustainable Compliance Initiative
- High-level communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to operate in a multi- cultural environment
- Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters
- Ability to manage work independently, with a high level of technical independence and judgment
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in law, sociology, human resource management, industrial relations, or other relevant field, or the equivalent in experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant fields, such as corporate social responsibility, law, social research, human resource management, human and labor rights or industrial relations
- At least 5 years experience in the field of social compliance auditing
- Familiar with FLA Code of Conduct and Benchmarks, ILO Conventions and Recommendations, regional labor and health & safety laws and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of office computer programs
- Excellent command of English and at least one regional language
- Understand the production process for apparel, textile, footwear and electronics facilities
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Candidate must be based in one of the countries of South Asia
- Extensive travel of up to 50% is required for this position
